The scholarly edition of Jistebnice kancionál reviewed in Hudební Rozhledy

In the November number of the Hudební rozhledy magazine, a review of the second volume of the scholarly edition of the Jistebnice cantionale has been published. The reviewer, Stanislav Tesař of Masaryk University, writes:

"The Jistebnice cantionale is, thanks to the scholarly edition, moving to the category of international sources, that is, sources necessary for the study of European reformation processes, especially the study of conditions in which the "third life" of plainchant formed in vernacular languages. Furthermore - English translations of the songs and all accompanying texts makes the repertoire of the Jistebnice cantionale finally available for discussion for the international community of scholars. There is therefore no doubt that securing and proceeding with the project of a scholarly edition of the Jistebnice kancionál belongs among the most important results of Czech musical medievistics in several decades."
